Most universities and professional collages have large campus. Most have canteens and hostels on campus. Being in far flung remote locations, they may not have access to public sewers. Hundreds of students, staff and faculty generate huge volume of sewage and can’t afford to discharge un-treated sewage.

Now it is mandatory for such educational institutions to have dedicated sewage treatment plants and re-use treated water for irrigation.
